Welcome to LUU Tae Kwon-Do Club
Leeds University has one of the largest Tae Kwon-Do clubs in the country. It has proven to be the most successful martial arts club at the University, mainly due to the attitude of the instructors and students. We believe training should be fun as well as vigorous.
We are an independent ITF style club, however we offer training in both ITF and WTF styles of sparring to provide a broader skill base. We regularly take part in both ITF and WTF competitions to promote the sporting aspect of Tae Kwon-Do. The club has two, two hour weekly training sessions and Saturday squad training for students, as well as public classes. For more information about training sessions, times, costs etc. please visit the Training page.
The sessions are led by a team of instructors who are assisted by student and ex-student black belts. A committee of elected students runs the club which ensures student interests are represented at all levels. See the About Us page to find out more about our instructors and committee.
The club also has an active social life with regular Friday socials in The Faversham after training, which includes an exclusive offer of half price food. Members also often organise nights out in Leeds to clubs or restaurants, BBQs in the park, Otley runs (fancy dress obviously!) and of course the Sports Ball.
Tae Kwon-Do teaches you discipline, control, respect, fitness and self defence. These are all good skills to boast about on your CV. Regular exercise is also great for mind and body and stress relief. So if you want to be part of Leeds University's most exciting martial arts club, come along to our Demo or Give It A Go sessions (details below) and sign up. For further information about the club, please contact our master instructor, Mr. Landreth-Smith.
